Introduction: My Poetic Influences
52I have written poetry since I was quite young, and as I grew older, many talented (although sometimes tortured) souls influenced me. On the top of this list is Edward "Ted" Hughes, ex husband of famed bipolar poster child and poet Sylvia Plath.
I do not call her a poster child for bipolar disorder to be cruel, no. I am actually quite taken with her work as well. I only mean to say, she suffered a lot, and it IS widely believed she had an undiagnosed mental illness of the bipolar class at least.
Other poetic influences include the great welsh poet Dylan Thomas, and Doors front man James Douglas "Jim" Morrison. I only hope that my poetry will be as widely read, and as legendary.
Even though not everything they did in life was necessarily the most wholesome, or even always the most sane, their work still stands out among all the reams in literary history.

Nice hub outlining your intentions and influences. I used to write poetry myself, even had one published. I no longer have the passion for poetry that I once did, but it's nice to know there are pure poets out there that are dedicated to the craft. I look forward to your future posts.
